Bordering the Hutt River, Avalon and Boulcott share a green and fresh neighbourhood.
Since the launch of the Predator Free program across the Hutt Valley, the number of birds in the region has grown. To allow native wildlife to further thrive we need to provide them a safe and healthy environment. Our goal is to enhance the reach of Predator Free into the Avalon and Boulcott suburbs by establishing a backyard trapping network. Over time we are keen to expand this to larger green areas. We established the group February 2021.
There are many ways you can help us to protect wildlife:
- Backyard trapping - We can supply you with a tunnel and trap for your backyard and teach you how to use it safely.
- Coordinate - as this group is newly-established, we are particularly keen to hear from people who have skills to share in helping to run the group. If you like social media, organising events, working with data, or are good with people we’d love to hear from you!
